My company hauled our asses up to the 103rd floor of the Sears Tower sans shoes to do this thing for Tom's - One Day Without Shoes. Here, for your enjoyment, are Leigh Anne and Young Jonathan. And me, of course. All acting like idiots.
To be fair, this laying down and taking the picture from above from YJ's idea. I didn't look down the entire time up there.
Yup, that would be me hiding behind him. Who knew he was taller than me?
I love my city.
Not even out there yet. Too skeered.
YJ was even more scared than we were I think. He tried to play it cool.
This is my other young friend, Justin. He was fearless up there.
NO WAY. NOT DOING IT.
OK, here's a little fake forced, I ain't skeered smile.
I don't know what y'all are so afraid of. This is nothin'.
I saw Mr. Cool's picture and immediately thought, "WHAT ARE YOU DOING? DON'T LEAN ON THE GLASS!" Yep...I thought it in my ALL CAPS voice! I have a picture of my baby Sis standing in that same spot. NOT leaning on the glass though. lol
ReplyDeleteI love your city too. For realz. Mucho much. A sunny Chicago day makes me smile hard. :-)
ReplyDeleteLOVE!
ReplyDeleteThis honestly made my palms sweat. I have been up there several times, and have never gone onto the glass. My one-year-old (at the time) however, thought it was cool and didn't want to get OFF the glass. Fearless child...sigh :) I agree with SoberTina about Mr. Cool leaning. This increased palm sweat tenfold. You are brave. And awesome. I <3 your blog.
ReplyDeleteHoly crap, I would barf. You guys rock...for being brave enough to get out there long enough to take pictures, and for the bare foot thing. Love it.
ReplyDeleteYou're one brave momma. I got heart palpitations just looking at the pictures!
ReplyDeleteI am TERRIFIED of bridges, cliffs, heights. I would absolutely have an axiety attack! AGH!!!
ReplyDeleteThat's great! But I spied some slippers. Does that count as shoeless?
ReplyDeletewhen we did the big official photo we were all shoewearless.
ReplyDeleteAck!! Those pictures made me wanna throw up!!
ReplyDeleteJust bought me and my daughter a pair of Toms today. How appropro! Just looking at those pictures make my palms sweat and sphincter clench. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteThat was hilarious - !
ReplyDeleteOMG. That ledge is psychotic! Was it designed specifically as immersion therapy for people afraid of heights?
ReplyDeleteI haven't been up there since they put those in, probably since I was a kid. I've been meaning to take my wife up who has never been. Now all the more reason to do so. That's cool!
ReplyDeleteMy Auntie Glor lives in the 1000 block of North State St. Just retired from the law firm she worked at BUT WON'T LEAVE! She'd die w/o Chicago! *Also you picks make my feet tingle & ache at the same time... me no like da heights!*
ReplyDeleteMy Auntie Glor lives in the 1000 block of North State St & even though she just retired from the law firm she worked at SHE WON'T LEAVE. I think she'd die w/o Chicago. *p.s. your pics made my feet tingle & hurt at the same time, NO FRICKEN WAY would I be out there! I'd probably vomit 1st.*
ReplyDeleteEven though you know you're safe - when you are in Mr. Cool's spot...it sure freaks you out!
ReplyDeleteYou are awesome! I wouldn't have done it, no way! :) I love the pictures!
ReplyDeleteYou are all so brave just for going up to the 103 floor. I would be so anxious and unhappy! I didnt care for that tower in Vegas. Took the elevator right back down. Wouldnt even ealk around like eveyone else. Told them I'd meet them downstairs! Makes me think of Mel Brooks movie High Anxiety!!!
ReplyDeleteHoly High Heights!!!! I would have had a total meltdown and looked completely ridiculous ( like trying to put a cat in a bathtub) bless you and your old biddie friend you are BRAVE as fuck in my book!!!!
